From making a socket that a patient will put on before using the Artificial limb, (in which case if done wrongly, will never be comfortable for the patient)

  8. Hi Damilola the price range depends on whats being used to make the leg. Wood is cheaper but bulker and uncomfortable. Metals like Stainless steel, aluminium and titanium cost more but are more expensive than wood. Also we have to look at the adult, is he or she active or not.     The wooden ones are not comfortable at all. For the newer more comfortable ones it will cost him between 6-900,000 for a modular knee joint.
    If he is an active person. It will be advisable he budget over 1.5m for a hydraulic Knee Joint.

    1. Hello David, there are three options available for above knee amputees

      The humble Modular Polycentric Knee Joint, that is controlled via cable to lock and unlock it.(cost under 1 million Naira)

      The Pneumatic Knee Joint, Which is controlled via Hydrulic process, its strong, lightweight and durable( cost between 2m to 5m

      The the micro processor electric Knee joint, these are usually fitted outside Nigeria, as no one is qualified to fit them here.( Their cost is in Dollars or Naira, usually tens of thousands of dollars or euro)
